2020 IMPACT

YEAR OF THE PIVOT & RESILIENCE

We entered 2020 with a solid strategic plan. All of our planning quickly unraveled in March, and as a team and an organization, we are proud of how quickly we were able to pivot. We chose to lead with community and service. We raised funds and delivered PPE supplies to frontline healthcare workers, launched The Global Living Room, The Impact Labs, a Mobilize the Vote Initiative, and the Global Classroom to support our core work in equity – education – environment – and youth empowerment. Below is a snapshot of what we accomplished, under the most trying of circumstances.

> GLOBAL LIVING ROOM

The HATCH Global Living Room sessions are a medley of diverse insights by astronauts, scientists, technologists, CEOs, artists, poets, and extraordinary humans from multiple countries around the world, working to understand inflection points, reframe challenges, and identify opportunities to create real solutions.

> GETTING PPE TO FRONTLINE HEALTHCARE WORKERS

In early March, HATCH united multiple networks to raise money to get PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) to healthcare workers on the frontlines of the hardest hit, underserved hospitals (New York City, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles). By leveraging supply chains within the HATCH network, tens of thousands of masks and other PPE were shipped, received, and distributed directly to places in dire need on the frontlines, bypassing the circuit jams of supply chain distribution. Deliveries direct to the ER were made by a curated network of volunteers and off duty medical professionals.

> IMPACT LABS

The IMPACT LABS were created to bring together a global community to co-create solutions for major systemic problems in humanity at a time when solutions are most needed. HATCH has developed a prototype framework to leverage innovation and creative problem-solving methodologies while building momentum around current critical focus areas. For the first cohort, HATCHconvened 130 Impacters (41 NextGen) from 12 countries, 34 states across the country, forming 18 teams over 7 weeks, on 4 topics (Equity, Education, Environment, and Mobilize the Vote). Incredible Projects.

> NO VOTE LEFT BEHIND

This is not left or right, blue or red, but a collection of humans who care deeply about democracy, racial equity, education, women’s rights, the future economy, and the environment – our planet. The 2016 election was decided by a combined 75,000 votes in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Every vote counts, if we are to exercise our right to use our voice and live in a democracy. RESULT: AGGREGATED over 25 Million Reach. SEE THE STREAM HERE.

> STUDENT BILL OF RIGHTS

THE CHALLENGE: How might we redesign the educational system to help young adults navigate the changing world? THE SOLUTION: A “For Students by Students” Bill of Rights, passed unanimously in the 2nd largest school district in the U.S. (Los Angeles)

> GLOBAL CLASSROOM

This virtual collaboration unit plan for high school, merges project-based learning with global classroom models, expanding world views by weaving together diverse schools in collaborative remote learning, addressing several social-emotional learning enhancement.
