HATCH is a network of world-shapers that mentor and mutually invest in one another. As positive things happen #becauseOfHATCH, the tag is used to help track the many projects and initiatives that grow from HATCH to create a global movement for good.← Back to all Stories
Founded in 2004, HATCH is a non-profit ecosystem that connects highly motivated individuals to accelerate solutions for positive impact.
We are uniting networks to raise money to help get PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) to healthcare workers on the frontlines of the hardest hit, underserved hospitals.
The HATCH PPE CHAIN is in action, and thousands of masks and other PPE have been shipped, received, and distributed directly to places in dire need.
Your 100% pass-through, tax-deductible donations get supplies, protective gear and other vital medical equipment directly to the hands of those on the frontlines, bypassing the circuit jams of supply chain distribution. Deliveries direct to the ER by a curated network of volunteers and off duty medical professionals.
Let’s continue to nurture each other as mutual communities of caregivers, reframe challenges, and convene our network over silver linings and solutions.
You might not be on the frontlines as a provider, but your heart and helping hands will provide for those of us who are.
Time is of the essence and this is the fastest way we can help the collective. Any dollar amount makes a big difference. Thank you.

What does the PPE Include?
A wide array of critical supplies including KN95 masks, Surgeon masks, ventilator parts, face shields, gowns – and over 600 meals delivered, with more on the way. Wearing surgical masks will become mandatory in public spaces, even after re-opening businesses as already directed in many states, and supply is already hard to find.
What’s the direct cost of the surgeon masks?
We have steady access to cases of 2,000 scrub-style masks at $0.60/mask. After wire transfer fees, freight, and anticipated duty on the goods, so $1400/case of Surgeon masks.
How is the PPE distributed?
Through HATCHers and others in NYC, we quickly built a network of off-duty MDs to hand-deliver these masks directly to the ER of hospitals in need. Hospitals such as Bellevue, Elmhurst, Harlem, Lincoln, and King’s County have been prioritized due to pre-Covid resource shortages and due to first-hand knowledge of ICU conditions and supply levels.
Why can’t the PPE be shipped directly to hospitals?
The government supply chain has failed, and hospital back-offices are not set up to order supplies via Wire Transfers to unknown vendors. Shipping directly to hospitals would also slow down the distribution of equipment to the front line as the inventory churns through the administrative process.
What about other PPE? Can I donate gowns, face shields, or KN95 masks?
While we do not want to duplicate the efforts of other organizations, we would certainly accept donations of PPE in quantities that have a serious impact. The second weekend of April we delivered 1000 face shields in boxes of 100 to ten hospitals in need, all within 24 hours of receiving the shipment. We are staying focused on fundraising for surgical (non-N95) masks to allow the grey-market price wars to settle, but we would not turn away any PPE that is sent to us. Please contact MaskForce@HATCHexperience.org or call +1-323-413-7559 to arrange any PPE donations.
HATCH is a network of changemakers – a “Network of Networks” – We absorb the information we are given, vet it and put our network to “work”. Now is the time to lean in and lean on one another more than ever. Through the above tax-deductible donation link, we can aggregate individual donations quickly and work past the red tape.
