Jose Ugarte

FOUNDER, UGARTE & ASSOC, a lobbying and political consulting firm based in Southern California. Ugarte has over a decade of political, legislative, labor, and non-profit relations experience. Prior, Jose served 7 years as a senior staff member to Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren Price, Jr where he focused on intergovernmental relations, labor, and quality of life improvements for the primarily African American and Latino residents of the southeast Los Angeles- based 9th Councilmatic District. Earlier in his career, Ugarte helped Orange County become a more inclusive place in the 2010 and 2012 elections. In 2018, Ugarte served as Deputy Campaign Manager and Political Director for a California Gubernatorial primary bid where he managed statewide engagement, endorsements, and grassroots community mobilization. Ugarte also successfully managed several competitive campaigns for Los Angeles City Council, State Assembly, School Board, and smaller municipalities in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. He served as the Orange County Political Director for a 2020 Presidential Campaign. In addition to his consulting practice, Ugarte sits on civic engagement boards. Ugarte’s clients include the Speaker of the California State Assembly, Los Angeles Community College Trustee Mike Fong, United Healthcare Corp, General Motors, Postmates and a variety of political campaigns.
