HATCH Collaboration “Compose Yourself” Earns Wall Street Journal Headline
Renowned composer and cellist Philip Sheppard met Tanya Thompson, then Head of ThinkFun Inc. Inventor Relations (now Mastermind Toys‘ Head of Global Product Sourcing and Development), at HATCH in 2013. Since then, the duo have collaborated on several fun projects and events – earning accolades at Toy Fair 2015 along the way.
A few weeks after HATCH 2015, Philip and Tanya’s experiential learning game Compose Yourself earned a front page, above-the-fold headline and considerable praise in The Wall Street Journal. The article begins by citing jaw-dropping achievements from a young child:
“Andrew Bennett’s 8-year-old daughter Eva composed a piece of music, an orchestra played it for her and then she improvised a ballet dance to it—all in the course of an afternoon.”
Compose Yourself is a groundbreaking boxed game that allows players of all ages and musical skill “to play with music and create a world-class composition” with a premise that is breathtakingly simple and brilliant”: Arrange the cards in a nice visual pattern, enter the codes on this site and hear your piece played in London’s Abbey Road Studios by world acclaimed English Session Orchestra and triple Grammy award winning percussionist, Evelyn Glennie.
That’s right. Compose Yourself could very well make it possible for your child to create a musical composition performed by a symphony orchestra. That is a stunning reward for play and creativity. Imagine how many people will become engaged in music for life because of this game!
Congratulations to Philip and Tanya for gaining the recognition they deserve for hatching musical talent around the globe!
