After overcoming a childhood riddled with great challenges, James’ story is one filled with hope and redemption. Now a social justice thought leader, James was most recently at The Yerba Mate Co., leading development and execution of the corporation’s social impact commitment to hire 10,000 system-affected individuals worldwide. The Yerba Mate Co. is the self-distributor of Guayaki Brand Yerba Mate which, is one of the fastest trending organic beverages in the country. Domestically and abroad, The Yerba Mate Co. is revolutionizing the distribution world by working towards its aspiration of having a 100% Fossil Fuel Free Fleet. James graduated from UCLA with double honors while simultaneously helping to create The Anti-Recidivism Coalition. In July of 2014, James was appointed to the State Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (SAC JJDP) by the Governor of California, Jerry Brown. James also served on the Executive Board for the Coalition for Juvenile Justice, the Board of Directors for the John M.
