India Arie

India Arie s a four-time Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, poet, actress, record producer, and advocate. She has sold over 10 million records worldwide.  In 2009 she received the DC Branch NAACP Centennial Award, was featured in the 2010 Image Award nominated documentary “Leading Women”, and had the privilege of meeting with the Dalai Lama prior to performing at an event for the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN.  In September 2010 she was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Arie was inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, and in 2016 released her single “Breathe.” Its stronger emphasis on wellness, combined with a uniformly soft, stripped-down sound, was acknowledged with a Grammy nomination in the category of Best New Age Album. Arie continues to draw from sounds across the globe with her sixth full-length release, Worthy in 2019, and she continues to be an advocate for human rights, freedom and fairness.
