Ty Hobson Powell
Ty Hobson-Powell (25) is a native Washingtonian and lifelong community advocate. After graduating from high school at 13, he become the youngest student in history to matriculate at Howard University. After gaining his Bachelor’s degree at age 15 from the University of Baltimore and his Master’s degree at 17 from Liberty University, Ty began his career in public service with DC’s Dept. of Employment Services availing supports to some of the District’s most disadvantaged residents through his work with MBSYEP, MBYLI & OYP. He also worked for Hillary for America in the 2016 presidential election as a field organizer in Erie, Pennsylvania. Currently, Ty serves as Co-Founder and Director of Policy for Concerned Citizens DC, Civic Engagement Coordinator for UDC, and is a lead organizer with the 51For51 D.C. statehood campaign and JustDemocracy.
