“Why does this election matter to me personally? What’s at stake?”
Countdown to Election Day, and now more than ever we must come together to empower democratic participation. HATCH and our Coalition Partners are uniting to inform, inspire and mobilize young voters, people of color, and underserved communities to REGISTER & VOTE.
This is not left or right, blue or red, but a collection of humans who care deeply about democracy, racial equity, education, women’s rights, the future economy, and the environment – our planet.
Some facts about the 2016 election:
The 2016 election was decided by a combined 75,000 votes in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. And, yet…
-
- In the 2016 election, only 56% of voting-age adults participated.
- Up to 16 million people encountered problems while voting in 2016.
- Between 2016-18, over 17 million voters were purged from voting rolls.
- More than 60% of adult citizens have never been asked to register to vote.
In addition, there is a critical need for Gen Z to volunteer at voting sites, as elderly volunteers typically volunteer and will stay home due to COVID. For that, we are asking youth to Power to the Polls.
